Welcome to the website of Glacial Ocean Atlas (GOA). This website is a product of an international workshop dedicated to the Reconstruction of the Glacial Deep Ocean Circulation, which was held from 4-7 November 2008 at MARUM, University of Bremen, Germany. The main purpose of this site is to support and document the ongoing collection and synthesis of marine paleoenvironmental data for the Last Glacial Maximum. Specifically the GOA site aims at

• improving the information exchange among scientists interested to contribute to the endeavour of a global data set describing the hydrography of the World Ocean during the Last Glacial Maximum

• improving the standardisation among different laboratories and the reproducibility of the reconstruction techniques

• providing some guidance for the modelling community regarding available data sets
